OBH supporting National Archery in School Program (NASP)

2003 OBH Convention Summary

A special thanks go to Karen Demaris (and the others who helped) for all her great efforts to make this a wonderful experience for everyone who attended. Many non-thankful hours of preparations went into this event. Those of you who did not attend..... YOU LOST OUT on a great time.

Events Weekend and Banquet
By Karen Demaris

So many people made the weekend possible and I want to thank everyone for their help – Thank You!  I want to acknowledge two people that made it the weekend it was. First, Nathan Zeiler who helped with advertising, donations, vendors, registration, thank-you notes, displays and anything asked of him. Also, Wayne Rogers who worked endless hours on making the indoor shooting area a reality, gluing targets, hanging netting, building bale stands and back stops….then helping tearing everything down. These guys were there from beginning, to end, and went way beyond the extra mile. We are glad you have the passion of archery in your blood and step forward to help us all to be able to enjoy it with you.

Many great displays were available to be seen at this years OBH Events Weekend. OHA was there to answer questions about their organization, artist Roy Swan showcased several pieces of art from Central Oregon’s Gateway to Bronze which included a life size bronze elk. Glen Thill of New Horizons Animal Artistry displayed many of his life like and habitat rich mounts, Outdoor Visions also was there with their beautifully framed pieces of art. OBH sponsored a horn measuring booth and OBH members John & Wilma Stone and Chuck & Toni Lynde measured horns for all those who were been lucky enough to take a big game animal. Foy Cochran Knives were also on hand to showcase their hand made knives. Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife provided public information on hunting, fishing and land rights. Oregon State Police Game Officer was on hand to answer question and we had a chance to view some footage of the decoy program in action. A great family oriented business called S&D outdoors showed that kids and parents can work together and have fun in outdoors while calling animals. Pacific Bow Butts, our target suppliers for the state indoor, was also there showing off  their nice butts. Oregon Mountain Arrows showcase several items. Sentman longbows had some gorgeous handcrafted bows and quivers for sale. And OBH merchandise was available to purchase.
