3-D GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES

  1. All competitors competing for trophies must be members of OBH.
  2. The 3-D tournament will consist of 40 3-D targets each day using unmarked yardage with on arrow and four scoring areas on the animal.
  3. Maximum shooting distance will be fifty (50) yards. Youth and Traditional will not shoot over 40 yards. In addition, all competitors in the (new last year, 2001) Hunter class have a maximum distance of 50 yards. Cubs will not shoot over 30 yards.
  4. All shooters will be allowed to shoot only one arrow at each target.
  5. Binoculars will be allowed but no range finders, computers, or any device capable of estimating distance will be allowed.
  6. All competition shooters will shoot each day with their competition (competitors in the same shooing class/division) on assigned targets using a shotgun start.
  7. Shooting group size/make-up will be determined by the Shoot Director at the time of the shoot.
  8. There will be three (3) different shooting stakes: 
    a) Orange = All (male & female) Seniors (except those shooting in the Traditional Classes), Adults (except those shooting in the Traditional Classes), Young/Adults (except those shooting in the Traditional Classes); b) Green = All competitors in the Youth and Traditional shooters; 
    c) White = All Cubs.
  9. Competitors must touch the shooting stake while shooting. When dual shooting stakes are used, competitors may shoot from anywhere between the two stakes.
  10. All competitors will be allowed a maximum of two (2) minutes of shooting time at each shooting stake.
  11. All vital scoring areas on each target will be clear and unobstructed for all shooting positions.
  12. Scoring: Body = 5 pts., Vital = 8 pts., Super Kill = 10 pts., Twelve Ring = 12 pts.: 
    Five (5) points shall be awarded for an arrow that hits any part of the animal's body area except the horns and/or hoofs. 
    Eight (8) points shall be awarded for an arrow that hits the animal's vital area as marked on the target. 
    Ten (10) points shall be awarded for an arrow that hits the animal's super kill area as marked on the target. 
    Twelve (12) points shall be awarded for an arrow that hits the animal's twelve ring area as marked on the target.
  13. All skip-ins or glances into the target shall be scored as hits, if the arrow sticks. Glance-offs do not count. Witnessed arrows passing through the target shall count if witnessed and agreed upon by a majority of the group members.
  14. Double scoring is required for all competitive shooters. OBH will provided score cards with scoring rules.
  15. All ties for places first through fifth will be broken by a sudden-death shoot-off.
  16. Awards will be provided for first through fifth place.
  17. Awards will be the same for all classes of competitive shooters. 1 for 2 shooters, 2 for 3 shooters, 3 for 4 shooters, 4 for 5 shooters and 5 for 6 or more shooters.
  18. Pro Division shooters will shoot for money rather than awards. There will be $100.00 purse fee in addition to the regular entry fee for all Pro Division shooters with 100% payout based upon the number of entries in this division.
  19. Traditional Division, the bow quiver may be mounted on his/her bow.
  20. Special Awards: 
    a) Husband & Wife (combined High Score), 
    b) Over 60 years old (high score), 
    c) Overall High Score (Any Division/Class/Shooting Style/Age).
  21. If possible, a separate ten (10) target course will be set for the Peewees (8 years & under). All contestants will receive the same type of award.
  22. There will be a total time limit of 45 minutes for equipment failure that requires the shooter to leave the course.
  23. In the event of a protest, a fifty ($50.00) fee shall be tendered to the Shoot Director along with a written description of the protest. All protests will be reviewed and ruled upon by the Tournament Committee. The $50 will be refunded if the protest is upheld. Protests must be filed within 45 minutes upon completion of the last competitive shooter.
  24. Novelty shots may be offered but do not count as part of the 40 3-D targets of the OBH State 3-D Championship.
  25. No smoking or alcohol will be allowed on the 3-D course.
  26. No spectators or pets will be allowed on the 3-D course without special permission from the tournament director.

EQUIPMENT RULES:

  1. All bows must conform to the standard definition of a bow.

  2. All bow must be hand held and had-drawn, with or without a release.

  3. The maximum allowable bow peak weight is: a) Males (Adults & Young Adults) = 80 lbs., b) Women, Youth & Cubs = 60 lbs.

  4. All bows must further conform to an archer's registered shooting style of competition. See NFAA rules pertaining to shooting styles and classification.

  5. All arrows must weigh a minimum of 5 grains of arrow weight per pound of peak bow weight.

  6. There is no point weight restriction. Brodhead's are not allowed.

In 2001, the following Classes were added to the OBH State 3-D Tournament:

 NOTE: These classes are not recognized by NFAA and are not part of the OBH Triple Crown.

             Hunter Class - Freestyle (HCFS)

            A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, shot with a release aid. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw-in style points and a minimum of 4 inch vanes or feathers. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. Shooters in this class will shoot from the orange (changed from 2001) stake. Maximum shooting distance will be 50 yards (new for 2002, prior year was 40 yards). Must be at least 12 years of age to compete in this class. There will only be two divisions in this class: Male and Female.

                        NOTE: The maximum allowable bow peak weight is:
                        a) Males (Seniors, Adults & Young Adults) = 80 lbs.
                        b) Women, Youth and Cubs = 60 lbs.
                        *** The minimum allowable bow peak weight is 40 lbs.

            Hunter Class - Freestyle Limited (HCFSL)

            A compound, recurve, or longbow with or without sights, shot with a finger tab, glove or bare fingers. If a sight is used it will have no more than four (4) fixed or crosshair style pins. Circle pins allowed if all circles are the same size. Arrows must have screw-in style points and a minimum of 4 inch vanes or feathers. Only one (1) single stabilizer being less than twelve (12) inches in length from the nearest point of attachment is allowed. Shooters in this class will shoot from the orange stake. Maximum shooting distance will be 50 yards (new for 2002, prior year was 40 yards). Must be at least 12 years of age to compete in this class. There will only be two divisions in this class: Male and Female.
